Obituary of Cassandra Leah Morton

Cassandra Leah Morton, long time resident of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away Friday, June 15th, 2018. Her funeral service will be held on Sunday June 24th, in the Unitarian Church of Charleston, 4 Archdale St, Charleston, SC 29401 at 2:00 pm.  Reception to follow at Tommy Condon’s, 160 Church St, Charleston, SC 29401.

Cassandra (Sandy) was born in Parkersburg West Virginia, daughter of Clayton Byron Morgan and Allenya Jean Morgan. She graduated from Columbia College in 1961. She was a math teacher for over 35 years, dedicating her career to teaching children, many of whom were underprivileged.  She also volunteered her time tutoring students after school. Sandy was also an amazing teacher to her family and friends. She would selflessly help guide anyone through the challenges of life with her kind and encouraging words of wisdom. The impact she is leaving on her family and friends is profound and inspiring. She will be forever cherished and always remembered.

Sandy loved to travel the world.  She visited many countries over her lifetime and encouraged those around her to do the same.  She took many trips to Europe with her children, family and friends.  She always organized an exciting adventure for those who were lucky enough to join her.  These experiences had a great impact on us and created memories that will last a lifetime.  

She is survived by her four children: Ian Morton of Charleston, SC; Leah Heinchon of Carrollton, VA; Annette Lanier of Summerville, SC; Suzanne Kuker of Charleston, SC and her 5 grandchildren: Nicholas Heinchon (15), Nathan Heinchon (12), Grace Lanier (7), Ada Kuker (2) and Emery Kuker (5 months).
