Obituary of Joyce Elizabeth Thorne

Joyce Elizabeth Thorne, 82, has entered into eternal peace on April 15, 2024. Joyce was born March
5, 1942 to Johnny and Corrine Driggers in James Island, SC, a place she always considered home.
Joyce was a caring and loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She was always there
for anyone who needed her in any compacity no matter the circumstances. Joyce was a hard-
working woman that had no bounds, especially when it came to family. Early in her career she was
employed at Cummins until she took the lead role at North 52 Motel. Later in life she worked with
Serv-Pro helping out her community in disaster relief. She was the matriarch of the family and was
vital to the raising of her children and grandchildren. She always made sure everyone was together
on holidays and special occasions. She enjoyed spending time with family, going out to dinner, and
occasionally playing bingo on the weekends. She never wanted to win big for herself, but always
had a notebook of how she was going to spoil everyone she cared for if she was to win big. Joyce
always took care of anyone in need and is now the angel in heaven as she was on earth. She is
survived by Vicky Tolly (daughter), Jody Duvall (son), and Timothy Duvall (son). Joyce had 7
grandchildren (Steven James Jr., Jessica James, Koty Tolly, Nicholas Duvall, June Duvall, Brittany
Duvall and Zachary Duvall) and 9 great grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be dearly
missed.
