Obituary of Rozella Yantis DeFulvio

Rozella (Rose) Yanits DeFulvio, 94, of Charleston, SC, formerly of Derry PA, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, October 28, 2018 at the Roper Hospice Cottage in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Rose was born November 22, 1923 in Jamison 20, PA to parents Mary and Paul Yanits. She married Gene DeFulvio July 10, 1954 who passed away June 2, 1992.

Baptized Jan 6, 1924, she was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Derry,  PA. Rose was active in both her church and the community. She served on the Women’s Rosary Auxiliary at St. Joseph’s and was a tireless volunteer at the St. Vincent-DePaul thrift store. She retired from Standard Steel  in Latrobe, Pa. September, 1980,  making many long time friends from her work there.

In 2016, she moved to Charleston SC to be closed to family. While in Charleston, she enjoyed chair yoga at the Senior Center, visits from family, and trying out different restaurants in the area. She even went through two hurricane evacuations. Although not a member of a church in Charleston, she regularly attended Our Lady of Good Counsel on Folly Beach.

She is survived by her only child, Leonard Lundquist of Charleston, SC; her grandchildren John Lundquist of Spartanburg, SC, Ashley Lundquist of Athens, GA, and Marybeth Lundquist of Houston, TX; and her great-grandchildren Austin Lundquist of Lexington Park, Maryland and Eric Lundquist of Spartanburg, SC.

She was the last of eight siblings and lived a long and happy life. Rose loved spending time with family and friends. She loved all animals, especially her “grand-dogs” Sammy and Olivia.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral mass at the St. Joseph Parish in Derry, PA at 10 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  The Celebrant for Rose’s funeral service will be Father Salvatore Lamendola.
