For eight wonderful years Deanna and I would get together on our week-long vacations and explore the mystical and magical Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. She and I, as well as our faithful companion, Vegas the Wonder Dog, shared so many exciting adventures. The good times we had, and the wondrous time we shared exploring these beautiful mountains and valleys that I call home, are the things that dreams and legends are made of.
For as long as I live I shall cherish and lovingly remember our times together. To know Deanna and share time together with her was among the greatest blessings of my life. It was such a great honor and a tremendous privilege to call her my best friend for so many years. I was truly blessed to know and love such a wonderful, dear, and special lady.
Deanna was a most talented artist and photographer. She had a very special gift, in that she could see beauty in places and things most of us would never even notice if not for the artistic ability she brought forth in her pictures and paintings. On the day we first me,t all those many years ago, she gifted me with a painting, done especially for me, of an idyllic scene from these beautiful mountains. This painting hangs proudly upon my living room wall, a loving treasure I will always cherish ever so deeply.
To Deanna's family and many friends, especially her son Michael, I want you to know how much I appreciate your allowing me to be a part of Deanna's life for all those wonderful, magical years. I know your heartache and I know your pain, in losing someone whom we so dearly love. Deanna gave us all a precious gift we shall always cherish ever so dearly, in just being the wonderful person she was. She will be forever loved.
Goodbye my sweet sweet Deanna, I'll see you and Vegas on the other side some fine day. Love always, Johnny Adkins, from Whitmell, Virginia
