Obituary of Dr. Joseph Raymond Bianco

JOSEPH BIANCO, MD

ISLE OF PALMS – Dr. Joseph Raymond Bianco, 65, Isle of Palms, SC, passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2022, with family by his side. Joe was born March 4, 1956, at the USAF base hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany.  Joe spent his early childhood in the small German town of Kiedrich. His family moved to Zimmer Estates in Beavercreek, Ohio in 1966, graduating from Beavercreek High School in 1974. After leaving high school, Joe attended Wright State University while also volunteering as a paramedic with the Beavercreek Fire Department. Joe spent eleven years with the department during which time he became part of the first group of professional firefighters/paramedics to be hired by the city. These experiences fueled his life-long love for medicine. He graduated from Wright State University with a BS in biology. He attended The Ohio State University School of Medicine and earned his MD in 1992. He met his wife of 29 years, Melissa, at OSU Cancer Hospital. Joe attended his emergency medicine residency program at Medical Center of Delaware.

Joe had a full career as an emergency medicine physician, beginning in Orangeburg, SC. They moved to the Charleston area in 1997, where he worked for Roper Hospitals for 21 yrs. Most recently, he worked for Hampton Regional Medical Center.

Joe was passionate about traveling with his family throughout the U.S., Europe, and afar.  He was always planning their next adventure! He loved his family, the beach, great food, wine, cooking, and his beloved Pantera.

Joe was pre-deceased by his parents, Albert and Patricia Banks Bianco and his brother, Robert Bianco. He is survived by his wife Melissa Raskay-Bianco, his daughters Lauren (Charleston) and Kelsey (Isle of Palms), sister Pat Sharp (Tom)  Oregon, brothers Louis Bianco (Melissa) Oklahoma, Tony Bianco (Jaime) Ohio, and Al Bianco, Ohio.

In typical Joe fashion, once his cancer was identified as terminal, and not wanting to miss a good party, he and Melissa planned his living Celebration of Life.  Family and friends gathered to enjoy good food and drink, to share stories, and to celebrate Joe as a life well lived!   Memorial messages may be sent to the family by visiting lowcountryfuneral.com.
