Obituary of John Coggin

John Michael Coggin age 69 passed away on March 30, 2022.

Born in Houston, Texas of George and Jane Coggin with his brothers George Marks and David Coggin.  John raised his family in Durham, NC where he spent 23 years in the automotive business.   John loved his family and beloved wife Debbie above all.  He enjoyed deep sea fishing and family activities with his children, grandchildren (known to them as “Grumpa”) and his golden retriever Dixie.

His beloved family includes:
Deborah Coggin,  wife; Christy Hamby, daughter; Amity Wells, daughter; John Coggin, Jr., son; Abner Coggin, son; Whitney Hamby, son-in-law; Laura Coggin, daughter-in-law; Bella Hamby, granddaughter; Elliot Hamby, grandson; Ava Jane Wells, granddaughter and Agatha Hamby, granddaughter.

John eventually settled in Summerville, SC where he continued in the automotive business with Audi of Charleston.

A celebration of John’s life will be held soon.

John enjoyed his cocktail time; his specialty being the “Joe Crow.”  The recipe is:

1 oz. Triple Sec
1/2 oz. of Rose’s lime juice
2 oz. of Tequila

Shake with ice and serve in a glass on the rocks
