Margaret Hiott

Obituary of Margaret Hiott

Margaret (Lee) Hiott went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior this Tuesday afternoon, October 25, 2022. Margaret was born on May 26, 1935, in Lake City, SC to Clayton and Mary Jane Lee. She attended Lake City Highschool before moving to Charleston, SC, for secretary school. After her training, she took a job at Charleston’s Cigar Factory where she met the love of her life, Robert. The two were married on October 27, 1956, and would raise their three children over the coming years in John’s Island, South Carolina. There, Margaret worked for many years as a cook in the food service industry, until her husband retired, and they began a house cleaning business together.

Margaret’s life demonstrated true Christ-like faith, service, and love. After accepting Christ as a young girl, she gave her life to service for her community and the local church, working in many ministries, including singing in the church choir. She is remembered by her family and friends as a prayer warrior, who kept her eyes on the Lord in both the good times and the bad. Over the last two decades, she has held membership at River Oaks Community Church and honorary membership at Open Door Bible Baptist Church.

Margaret has now been reunited with those who have gone before her: her husband, Robert Hiott, Sr., and her three siblings: Charles Lee, Victoria Lee Nettles, and Richard Lee.

Margaret is survived by her three children, Steve Hiott (Marguerite), Robin Hiott Deason (Samuel), and Robie Hiott (Tammy), as well as by her nine grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held this Friday evening from 6pm to 8pm at River Oaks Community Church. The next day, the church will hold a memorial service at 10:30am, committal to follow at Whispering Pines Cemetery in Moncks Corner, SC.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Margaret’s name be sent to Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Printing Ministry, PO Box 341, Oliver Springs, TN 37840.
