Obituary of Dennis Wayne Schriefer

Dennis Wayne Schriefer of Moncks Corner, SC, departed this earthly life at his home on his 75th birthday, February 7, 2024, surrounded by his wife and three daughters. Dennis was born on February 7, 1949 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Charles R. Schriefer and Marjorie Glover Schriefer.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sherrie Snyder Schriefer; his daughters Angela M. Hoskins, Catharine L. Segars (Jesse), Nicole D. Hockaday and Marisa A. Scofield; his grandsons, Aric Schriefer, Jacob Grooms, Gabriel Ford, Jayden Bland, and Oliver and Austin Scofield; his sister Diana Ehler (William); and a host of in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Dennis was very proud to have served in the US Navy in his early career. He was a patriot who was always moved by the American flag and was extremely honored to stand with the Patriot Guard on several occasions to show his deep respect for deceased military veterans. His later career was primarily with the civilian side of support for the DOD as a logistic engineer and programmer.

Dennis enjoyed classic cars and was a wiz at naming the make and year by the lights, emblems and minor differences on the cars. He enjoyed Indy car and NASCAR races. He also enjoyed working with wood and building his home for his family. His front porch was one of his favorite places. He liked to hunt and fish in his younger days, and threatened to put into the freezer any of the deer that visited the yard, which, in truth, he loved to watch from his porch or front window.

Dennis bravely battled Parkinson's Disease for over a decade. He loved to ride motorcycles and joked about putting racing stripes on his walker and wheelchair once they replaced his road wheels. His sense of humor, confidence, and deep love for his family will be greatly missed.
