Obituary of Ann McMurray

Ann McMurray 89 (1934-2024)

 

After a long battle with cancer, Ann McMurray gained her wings, Saturday February 10, 2024 

 

Ann was born in Green Creek, Polk County, NC, on September 11, 1934, to the late Hoyt B. And Vera Tanner McMurray. Ann is preceded in death by her sister, Beulah Setser, (Dr. Mack Setser, DVM) and brother Blayne McMurray (Raye Hopper McMurray).

 

Ann retired from Civil Service at the U.S. Marine Corps Logistic Base, Albany, Georgia.

 

Surviving, are her daughters, Carol Guedalia of Hilton Head Island, SC and Linda Guedalia of Stedman, NC, a brother, Dr. Birch McMurray, DVM and wife Nancy of Morganton, NC,cousin Hugh (Rita) Wilkie of Wadmalaw Island, SC. many neices and nephews; and her many dear friends of Albany, Georgia and Hilton Head Island, SC. 

 

Ann loved her family, gardening, reading, music, art, and the ethical treatment of animals, especially cats. Ann devoted much of her time and resources to the Spay and Neuter Clinics of Albany, Georgia and the adopting process of feral cats. Ann was commonly known as The Cat Lady but will always be remembered for her beautiful smile.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 2:00pm, First Presbyterian Church-Honey Horn Chapel, 540 Hilton Head Island Pkwy, Hilton Head Island, SC, 29928.

 

The family will hold a private burial in Green Creek, NC.
