Obituary of Larry Earl Nicholas

Larry Earl Nicholas, age 76, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away at home with his daughter and wife by his side on March 8, 2024. He was born on January 1, 1948, in Piggot, Arkansas and grew up in Hamburg, Michigan. Larry was a fun, loving, and compassionate man with an amazing sense of humor. His infectious laugh was contagious and he always lit up a room wherever he was present.

He was an avid fisherman in the prime of his life and enjoyed showing family and friends the coast of South Carolina. He enjoyed playing board games with friends and family and had a special love and respect for animals. Larry was dependable, extremely loyal, and always ready to help solve any problem.

In his career, Larry was involved in the automotive industry as a laborer at a young age and worked his way up to become an International training manager, training all over the world. He was always eager to learn and be the best at any opportunity presented to him. When not working, Larry loved tinkering in his garage, building prototypes, and woodworking.

He once had an invention patented called the True Hitch Up. He made beautiful wood plaques with pictures of the Lowcountry on them as well as oyster shell creations. He enjoyed helping his neighbors with their home projects and spending weekends on his boat fishing, shrimping, crabbing, and entertaining loved ones.

Larry is survived by his wife Karen Nicholas, daughters Tamara Woods and Ashley Nicholas, stepchildren Lisa Schirmer, Bryan Edwards, and Don Edwards, mother Laverne Nicholas, brothers Jerry, Gary, and Barry Nicholas, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Earl Nicholas, brother Terry Nicholas, and son Timothy Nicholas.
