Bobby was one of the most amazing people I’ve had the privilege of getting to know. I had the great honor of working with Bobby almost everyday for two years... he was selfless, knowledgeable, competent, and kind. Bobby had an outsize impact on the MAF’s ability to protect our nation. He positively impacted almost every major MAF exercise and JA/ATT for over a decade and a half... literally 1,000s of pilots and loadmasters owe their training and skills to this amazing man. He taught and mentored. He provided invaluable advice. Bobby lived simply and was happier for it.
Bobby Orr, thank you for what you taught me. You’re missed.

Bobby was a mentor to me as a young loadmaster coming up through the system. I had the privilege of flying with Bobby on numerous occasions and we always had great spirited debates about all things loadmaster. Bobby was a great guy with a huge heart who cared deeply about loadmasters and the Air Force. RIP Brother and you made a difference and an impact on many!

Bobby was definitely one of the good guys. He could light up any room with that laugh of his. He was the ‘go to’ guy when it came to C-17’s and especially when it involved airdrop of troops and equipment. I first knew Bobby when he flew out of McChord AFB but worked with him extensively after he retired and worked at Charleston as a civilian planner. Charleston was his home and he was proud to be part of the wing, both in the military and as a civilian. Over the last 15+ years I attended many JA/ATT conferences with him and his partner in crime, Bill Caldwell. They made a great team and complimented each other. Bobby could act like a softy but he knew his shit and would let you know when you were wrong. We killed some brain cells along the way, but Bobby always kept his wit. “Never Go Big on Monday”, right Scott? My condolences go out to his immediate family and to his even bigger MAC family. Bobby touched everyone is a positive way, even if he Q-3’d you. I am proud to have known him, I’m a better person for it. We lost one of good ones last Wednesday.

I had the fortunate pleasure of working with Bobby during his civil service days with the AMC JA/ATT program. He had a wealth of knowledge in the C-17 airdrop mission and worked hard to ensure aircrew members with the 437AW & 315AW got the training they needed to support the ever demanding operational needs of the Air Force. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in their time of need.
